Action in Deadwood
We went to Deadwood, Wild Bill’s famous town. People came to Deadwood so they could find and mine gold. Wild Bill Hickok was shot there.
While we were there we went to go see Wild Bill’s original death place, where he was shot and killed. They act out his death in a play, and have volunteers…I was one of them.
My character in the play was the owner of the saloon. I also played cards.
One night Wild Bill was playing cards with his friends. His usual spot was taken, which was always the chair with his back against the wall. He sat with his back against the wall because he didn’t want to be shot in the back. He argued with the person who took his seat, and finally sat down in a seat that was not against the wall. Later that card game, a person who he had been in a fight with earlier showed up and shot him in the back because he saw that his back was exposed.
After we watched the play, we watched a reenactment of street shooters, but it was shortened because there was about to be a thunderstorm. Later that night we went into a shop and then took the trolley back to our car. Even though it was really rainy we still had lots of fun in a town known as Deadwood.
